  • 💻🤩 Techknow Club Coding Final 💻🤩

    Fri 24 Mar 2023

Our P7 Coding club travelled to W5 Belfast today, to participate in the 2023 TechKnow Club Coding Final! After many months of hard work in order to learn and develop HTML code, Emily, Emma, Aaron and Ethan then had to rebuild their website from scratch: under time pressure and under the watchful eye of the judges! Our Coding Club performed remarkably well under such pressure and were able to fully rebuild their website in full working order, using HTML code and JavaScript. Our group then presented their website and code to the judges, where they had to explain the various elements used and the coding skills used. The judges highly commended our school’s provision for coding, as well the group on their remarkable coding skills- which was commented on as being at a GCSE pass level! The group can be very proud of their achievements, where they represented themselves and their school proudly. Well done Emily, Emma, Aaron and Ethan!

  • ✝️ Sacrament of First Penance ✝️

    Fri 24 Mar 2023

Congratulations to our Primary 3 pupils who received the Sacrament of First Penance on Thursday. This was a very special occasion for the children (who were excellent throughout) and their families. Special thanks to our class teachers, teaching assistants, music teachers & RE Coordinator Mrs Curran for their hard work and organisation in preparing pupils to receive this sacrament. We are also extremely grateful to Fr Toland, Fr Henry and Canon Murray for a lovely service.

Please keep our P4 and P7 pupils in your prayers in the coming weeks as they prepare to receive the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

  • ☘️ St. Patrick’s Day Parade ☘️

    Fri 17 Mar 2023

Well done to all of our fantastic pupils who participated in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade today in Downpatrick, hosted by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. Our pupils represented their school excellently in showcasing a float based on a famous Downpatrick Landmark- Downpatrick Racecourse. The children dressed as jockeys and pushed specially constructed horses from natural materials. Thanks to our school staff who joined the children, especially Mr Lyttle for organising our school’s involvement in this year’s parade. A special thanks to Philip Campbell from Down Community Arts, who worked so hard to coordinate such a successful event! We hope our children and families enjoy the remainder of the long weekend!

  • 🧪👩‍🔬🔬 Science Week 2023 🧪👨‍🔬🔬

    Thu 16 Mar 2023

This week, our girls and boys have been celebrating Science Week 2023.

All classes have been working hard to complete a science investigation, where they followed a scientific method to answer a question posed. There have been a wide range of engaging, fascinating and mind-boggling experiments happening throughout the school, which presented excellent scientific learning opportunities to mark Science Week 2023!

Our children have also been busy at home throughout the week, working towards completing their ‘Power Projects’. These are based on their World Around Us topic and they incorporate a wide range of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths) activities. With the projects due to be returned to school on Monday, we are all excited to see the wonderful creations and innovation that has taken place! We are also looking forward to announcing our Scientists of The Week and Key Stage Power Project Winners, early next week!

The pupils also enjoyed an amazing St. Patrick’s Day disco with plenty of music and some really impressive dance moves! 😎💃🕺 Our super PTFA also provided everyone with a yummy tuck shop, filled with tasty treats. Great fun for all!
