  • ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿฅณ Celebrating European Day of Languages ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿฅณ

    Fri 30 Sep 2022

This week St. Colmcille’s PS celebrated European Day of languages this week in school by organising and participating in numerous activities and challenges to raise awareness of language learning and the rich cultural heritage and diversity that can be found across our continent.

Throughout Europe, 700 million Europeans are represented in the Council of Europe's 46 member states and all are encouraged to discover more languages at any age.

The highlight of the week was a special assembly led by the P6 children which contained prayers, singing, drama and interesting facts/ information about our continent and the various languages that are spoken across Europe. Thank you to our parents who attended this morning's assembly- it was lovely to be able to welcome you back into school again after the difficulties of recent times. Well done again to Mr Brennan's class who all worked together to produce such an enjoyable and informative assembly for our school community to enjoy this morning!

  • ๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿผ Rights Day ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿป

    Fri 30 Sep 2022

Last year the pupils in St. Colmcille's Primary School elected Class Reps to support us along our journey in becoming a Rights Respecting School. In preparation for our first Rights Day on Tuesday 27th September the Class Reps met and reviewed the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) and selected 14 rights that they felt would be beneficial for the whole school community to focus on to help develop our awareness and understanding of children's rights. During our Rights Day celebration they then selected a number of key places to display the 14 rights around the school to ensure that everyone can be reminded of them daily.

  • ๐Ÿ‘พ๐Ÿ“ฑ Celebrating National Coding Week ๐Ÿ‘พ๐Ÿ“ฑ

    Sun 25 Sep 2022

All our classes enjoyed taking part in a huge variety of coding and programming lessons this week to celebrate National Coding Week. Our Foundation Stage classes were busy working with Blue-Bots and our new Sphero Indi programmable cars, while Key Stage 1 & 2 classes joined the Nerve Centre for special workshops on creating their own games and digital story-telling using the Scratch coding app. Fantastic opportunities to develop ICT knowledge across our school and equip our pupils with skills for the 21st century workplace.

  • ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿค St. Colmcilleโ€™s PS First Rights Day ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿค

    Sun 25 Sep 2022

St. Colmcille’s Primary School was recently awarded the Bronze Level Rights Respecting Schools Award. Throughout the course of this school year, we will participate in a range of rights related activities and themed days as we work towards achieving the Silver Level Rights Respecting Schools Award. Our first Rights Day will take place on Tuesday 27th September. On Rights Day, the pupils will explore the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) as we step towards our goal of embedding children's rights into all aspects of school life and inspiring our pupils to become active and global citizens.

  • ๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ Swimming Lessons ๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ

    Fri 23 Sep 2022

We will be continuing our swimming programme in the next few weeks, beginning with P6 (Mr Brennan's class). All children in upper Key Stage 2 will have the opportunity to take part in lessons throughout the year.

Lessons will cost £4.00 per child; this includes travel and swimming tuition (payable on School Money).

Please look out for updates on starting dates and times on Facebook, the School Website, or your child's class Seesaw page.

  • ๐ŸŒ๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธโ›ณ๏ธ Golf Lessons ๐ŸŒ๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธโ›ณ๏ธ

    Fri 23 Sep 2022

We are looking forward to welcoming club professional Adam Mulhall (Ardglass Golf Club) who will be providing a four-week introduction to golf course beginning within the next few weeks. Lessons will take place on Friday afternoons (2:10 - 3:10 pm) and will be priced at £7.50 per lesson.

This is a very exciting opportunity and participating in the programme will allow pupils to explore a fun, new hobby and also spend time in the company of their peers whilst getting some exercise.

Spaces are limited and priority will be given to Key Stage 2 pupils. Based on the success and feedback of these lessons, it is likely we will provide another course in the new year.

Please look out for updates on dates and times on Facebook, the School Website or your child's class Seesaw page.
