    Tue 12 Apr 2022

Representatives from Primary 6 and 7 enjoyed participating in a Gaelic Football tournament today at Russell Gaelic Union Downpatrick, to encourage young people to get active and to develop links between our school and our local club. It may have been a wet and windy day but that didn’t stop everyone from having a fantastic time and showing off their excellent skills and effort throughout. Thank you to Paul McAlinden and Collie Quinn at RGU for organising this very worthwhile event.

We recently saw the completion of our whole school Growing Challenge which began during our Science Week Celebrations. Each class were given a planter bed to design and decorate with colourful flowers and the effort from each class was tremendous! There were lots of different decorations and themes designed by the classes from fairytales to renewable energy.

With such fantastic work all round, choosing the winners took a lot of thought and deliberation!

    Joint 1st Place: P2 and P5/6
    Joint 2nd Place: P3/4 and P5
    Joint 3rd Place: LSC 1 and P6

Each winning class will enjoy a class trip to the beach in the weeks following the Easter Break! Congratulations to everyone for all the fantastic efforts which have undoubtedly prepared our school grounds for Summer, with the addition of all these beautiful colours and designs!

  • ๐Ÿ”ญ๐Ÿ”ฌ P5/6 and P6 Visit W5 ๐Ÿ”ญ๐Ÿ”ฌ

    Fri 08 Apr 2022

On Thursday 24th March, the Primary 5/6 and Primary 6 classes went to W5 in Belfast to explore exhibits based on their World Around Us topic; Inventors and Inventions. They completed a workshop called ‘Marvellous Machines’ and had to design and build a machine that could move a load from one point to another. The boys and girls used K’nex and worked in small groups to create machines before testing them out in the race area. Each group was able to move their load across the finish line successfully! After the workshop, there was some time to explore Levels 2 and 4. Some of the favourite exhibits explored were pulley systems, springs, levers, magnets, visual effects and the physics of flight. There are some great videos of the trip on their class pages on the school website!

  • โœ๏ธ Easter Updates & Trรณcaire Donations โœ๏ธ

    Thu 07 Apr 2022

As we begin to prepare for Holy Week, we would like to take this time to reflect on the sacrifices Christ made and how we can gain a deeper understanding of His love for us. Today we celebrated our whole school Easter Mass by participating online. Next week, during Holy Week, we will reflect on the events that led to His crucifixion and resurrection. Through the Grow in Love programme, we will explore the values of Love, Trust, Forgiveness, Thankfulness, Hope and Friendship. As usual, we will be making a donation to Trocaire for their Lent Appeal. This money will help families dealing with poverty and the effects of climate change. Please donate what you can through School Money and every donation, however big or small, will be gratefully received. Together, we can make a difference.

    Loving God,

    Help us to work together,
    to share what we have,
so that everyone has what they need.
Help us to build a better world,
where each of us can become the best person we can be.

    Amen
