  • ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒป Green Flag Success ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒ๐Ÿƒ

    Sat 25 Sep 2021

Congratulations to our hard working Eco Committee and Eco Coordinator Miss Vaughan, as our school has recently been awarded the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag for the third time by the environmental charity Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.

The Eco-Schools Northern Ireland Official programme is the world’s largest Environmental Education programme and aims to make environmental awareness and action an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of our school.  Our school has chosen to develop the eco-topics of Outdoor Learning/Biodiversity, Marine Life and Transport in collaboration with Sustrans NI.

Over the past year, we have developed our school grounds to develop Outdoor Learning opportunities and Biodiversity in our local area.  In addition to the wonderful Outdoor Learning that has taken place, evident through our regular updates, there have been many further initiatives and activities carried out in school which you can see below.  Thank you to all of our families for your continued support with our Eco-Schools initiatives.  Thank you also to Mr McReynolds, Head of Outdoor Education, and to our many staff members that have freely given their time and talents to contribute to developing our outdoor environment.

To keep up with our Eco Committee’s latest news and events, visit our school website page for regular updates. ๐ŸŒป

  • Young Enterprise

    Fri 17 Sep 2021

We are very excited to announce that we will be collaborating with Young Enterprise Northern Ireland in order to encourage a hands-on approach to entrepreneurship skills both in and outside of school, beginning in January 2022. Each year group from P2 to P7 will take part in a different programme before taking part in a whole school event putting what we have learned into practice before the end of the school year.

We hope that working with Young Enterprise will have a number of benefits for your child. Not only will it be a something fun and new which will boost their confidence and problem solving skills, but it will have a number of medium and long term benefits such as enhancing behaviour, attitudes, application of knowledge, emotional capabilities and decision making as well as creating an awareness of the worth and importance of money before ultimately preparing your child for working life.
