19.02.24 Tennis Progression

As we continue our tennis block we have been building on key skills to support our learning and coordination. This week we strengthened our racket positions and began to incorporate some forehand serves to a partner. Throughout the lesson we managed to gain a good amount of control with each new serve.

05.02.24 Forehand Positions

Our focus for today’s P.E. lesson was to practice a forehand racket position. We split into pairs to work on holding the tennis racket correctly and rolling the ball on the ground with our forehand.

22.01.24 More Balancing!
Finally we had a chance to use the rackets today to move our tennis skills onwards. We put our skills to good use and moved around the hall while balancing a tennis ball on the racket. After a lot of hard work and concentration we split into teams to engage in some healthy competition with our peers.

15.01.24 Onwards and Upwards

As we build on our tennis skills, this week’s session was all about controlling in motion. We used our knowledge of throwing and catching to bounce the ball while in a light jog. We quickly got the hang of it and will be tennis pro’s in no time!

08.01.24 Tennis!
We began our first session of Tennis skills today. We practised maintaining control of the ball by using an under arm throw to pass between partners. As we gained confidence we challenged ourselves to throw the ball from a further distance and use one hand to catch.

12.10.23 Pirate Pairs

We had a lovely dose of sunshine today as we took our P.E lesson outdoors and continued working on our Pirate fitness. Our heart rates were raised steadily through each different exercise carried out with our partners.   We performed a range of body exercises and ball skills tasks before engaging in a cool down activity to bring our heart rates back to rest.

02.10.23 Slow and Steady Wins the Race!
We continued to progress our balancing skills today in P.E with a lesson that challenged us to balance as many items of P.E equipment we could. First we walked slowly before building up to a light jog. Lots of practice makes progress!

25.09.23 A Balancing Act!
We focused on multi skills today in P.E. as we balanced along lined markings with equipment on our heads. This helped us to demonstrate control and co ordination. To end the session we participated in a friendly race, where the real control was put to the test.
