World Book Day

For World Book Day, P5 had a book cafe. We drank hot chocolate and had biscuits while we ‘tasted’ new books and genres to find new books we might enjoy reading.

The Armagh Rhymers came to share stories and songs with us for National Storytelling week.

We have been practising our phonics sound of โ€˜w/whโ€™ this week by using equipment to spell our key words.

Persuasive Writing

We are very lucky to have had author Charlie Graham come in to read to us and share his advice about writing and publishing books. His book โ€˜Missing Monkeysโ€™ was very funny and we enjoyed joining in with the collaborative parts of the story.

We were inspired by Michael Rosenโ€™s performances of his poetry and through the theme of refuge, we created our own safe spaces, wrote our own refuge inspired poems and performed the poem โ€œOn The Moveโ€ in groups.

WALT: find the key features of a report.

P5 have been looking at non-chronological reports in their writing. We looked at examples of reports and found the key features to write a checklist for report writing. The children showed great team work and combined their ideas to come up with one checklist.
