  • ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜Š Sleep Workshop for Parents & Carers ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜Š

    Next Friday 6th October at 1:15pm, we will be hosting a workshop for parents, carers and families, focusing on the importance of sleep for learners. The workshop will be delivered in our Nurture Room by Mrs Dempsey, Vice-Principal and SENCo. Everyone welcome!

    Our new Friday Chess Club is a roaring success.

    Chess teaches our children a variety of skills, including visualisation, critical thinking and problem solving.

    Thanks to Mark & Aine Doxey for offering their tuition services which made it possible to offer this great activity to our children.

  • ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ“š European Day of Languages๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ“š

    On Tuesday we celebrated European Day of Languages. Our pupils enjoyed learning about and studying different European languages such as Gaelic, Spanish, Bulgarian and French. They completed engaging activities such as food sampling and talking and listening tasks, as well as making posters, fact files and videos on their language of choice. This learning supplemented the Irish lessons that Key Stage 2 have been enjoying with Ms Gormley this term.

    Today we celebrated the fantastic work and effort of all our fabulous classroom assistants. The pictures below shows a small representation of our dedicated assistants, who all go above and beyond every day to help and guide our pupils to grow, learn and to be the very best. Our well deserving staff were treated to delicious buns and bakes at break time as a small token of our appreciation of them. ๐Ÿ’™

    As part of our Roald Dahl Day celebrations, every class received a 'Golden Ticket', awarded for enthusiasm, positive input and impressive effort in all of the Roald Dahl themed activities. This Golden Ticket earns the winning pupil a homework pass for one evening and one extra hour of golden time. Congratulations to all our Golden Ticket winners!

    Our Key Stage 2 pupils have been participating in Irish language lessons, delivered by our very own Gaeilgeoir, Ms Sinéad Gormley. The girls and boys have been enjoying learning Irish and have been practising and using their new language skills around the school. Keep up the good work - Maith Sibh!

    Congratulations to our Rights Respecting Pupils of the Week. These are pupils who have gone above and beyond to promote and learn about rights and who help make sure that the rights of all children in our school are upheld. Well done boys and girls!  

    Our Rights Steering Group this week, following consultation with their peers, selected the wonderful Mrs Dempsey as our Duty Bearer of the week. Mrs Dempsey goes above and beyond to ensure the pupils of St Colmcille's feel happy and safe in their learning and we appreciate all that she does for our school.

    We are delighted to add a lovely new book to our Nurture library, ‘Ping and Pei; Different but the same’. This book focuses on the importance of celebrating each others’ differences and not prematurely judging one another. โค๏ธ

    Miss McCaughey is thrilled with our new book and cannot wait to share it with her Nurture pupils and many others!๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผ‍๐Ÿซ
