  • ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿค UNICEF Rights Respecting School & Rights Day ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿค

    Sun 15 May 2022

St. Colmcille’s Primary School are working towards the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award and we recently celebrated Rights Day, followed by a special assembly on Friday. Rights Day was a day set aside for discussion and communication about the importance of the rights of a child. Each class investigated the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and completed follow up activities focusing on one of the rights. The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children’s rights at the heart of schools. The children’s charity UNICEF will work alongside our school to develop a safe and inspiring place to learn, where children are aware of their rights, talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. The Rights Respecting Schools Award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination, and participation. The award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.
