  • ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ˜€ Childrenโ€™s Mental Health Week๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ˜€

    Sun 11 Feb 2024

This week we celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week!

Children took part in a variety of lessons to develop their awareness of how to look after their mental health and what mental health is. During the week, children were given the chance to bring in something they are proud of! This was a great opportunity for the children to express themselves and show their teacher and classmates what makes them unique. As well as this, all classes made sure to get down to our daily mile track each day. Getting children outdoors, exercising and chatting to friends was a great way to promote and boost their mental health and wellbeing.

To finish off the week, P4-7 children took part in an online art workshop hosted by Sinead McDermott from the Art and Design Factory in Belfast. The children thoroughly enjoyed this fun and engaging session and we would like to thank Sinead for the brilliant session!

  • ๐Ÿฉฐ๐ŸŽผ P5/6 Dance Finale ๐Ÿฉฐ๐ŸŽผ

    Sun 11 Feb 2024

This week the P5/6 Cultural Dance Programme culminated with the finale at Downpatrick Leisure Centre. The programme, which was organised by the council and delivered by Jenna Finnegan, saw the boys and girls have four dance sessions in school before the final event at DLC.

The boys and girls performed the routines that they had worked tirelessly on over the last month and really blew everyone away with their skills and efforts. It was wonderful to observe the confidence they had during their performances, it is no mean feat to perform with such gusto in front of such a large number of observers, including several local councillors. The pupils did themselves proud and represented the school tremendously well.

    Keep dancing P5/6!

  • โค๏ธ Chest, Heart and Stroke Workshops โค๏ธ

    Sat 03 Feb 2024

The P6 and P5/6 classes enjoyed their second workshop with Chest, Heart and Stroke where they were learning their 'Monkey Moves'. This workshop discussed the importance of incorporating physical activity in our daily lives and looked at how many minutes of exercise we should be getting each day. An enjoyable session and next week they will be learning all about the importance of sleep!

The P7s took part in an anti-smoking and vaping workshop recently, learning all about the dangers that smoking/vaping has on our physical health. A highly engaging workshop with plenty of take-home messages as well.

We look forward to continuing the workshops in the coming weeks!
