Today is World Autism Awareness Day, which is celebrated by 193 member states of the United Nations! Yesterday, as part of World Autism Acceptance Week, we held our own ‘Celebrating ME!’ Event in St. Colmcille’s to mark the occasion. Our pupils enjoyed coming to school dressed in their own outfits or costumes that make them feel confident and comfortable and participated in a special assembly, as well as fun and engaging activities throughout the day to learn more about Autism. We were delighted to present Melissa Keenan, of Downpatrick Autism Family Support Group, with a cheque for £750 on behalf of the pupils, families and staff of St. Colmcille’s Primary School. Thank you to our entire school community for their very generous donations towards this worthwhile cause.
