World Around Us
Land Of Stories - The boys and girls began their new topic of term 2 this week. Our topic will be Land Of Stories which is based on fairy tales but with a modern twist! This week the boys and girls created their own timelines in chronological order to gain more of an understanding around the origin of fairy tales and how they have evolved over hundreds of years!
Natural and Manmade Landmarks - We explored different landmarks around the world and considered the different materials they were made from. We then used a Venn diagram to sort these landmarks into the categories of manmade and natural. We found that there were no landmarks that fitted into both sections.
Landmark Building - We have used natural materials around the school to create our own Landmarks from around the world. The children used their STEAM knowledge and considered how best to create the structure, how to make it stable and which materials would be most suitable.
Locating European Countries - We have started our new topic all about famous Landmarks in Europe. The pupils used their atlas skills to correctly label the countries in Europe. Some pupils had a further challenge of finding the capital cities of these countries.
Primary 5B took part in a science investigation this week investigating what plants need in order to be healthy and grow. We outlined what equipment would be used for our investigation, the method we will follow and our predicted results for the investigation after three weeks! 🌱 🧑🔬
This week in P5B we learned about the different classifications of animals and their characteristics! The children had great fun outdoors sorting the different animals into their correct classification!
The boys and girls had fun through the use of ICT this week in World Around Us. As we are looking at the topic of rainforests, the children located the various rainforests across the world and the countries they are in.
