Learning Through Play
π§£Outdoor - Fabric Play π§£
We introduced fabric to our outdoor play provision and even though the children took some time to engage with it, ideas began to bounce off one another quickly. We had example of imaginary role play, creating beds and blankets for home and also some weaving through the trellis and fence railings.

πPaint - exploring the amount of paint to add to the paintbrush and cleaning our paintbrushes. How to clean the paintbrush to try and not mix the colours and dabbing excess water on a paper towel. We also learnt to out our finished artwork in the drying rack independently.
π Physical Development - to develop our muscle strength in our hands we used hole punchers to punch holes in contrasting colours of card. This was surprisingly tricky for most of us and we had to use two hands to begin with until our hands became stronger. Sticking the circles to the contrasting colour was also tricky because they were so small. Great practise for our pincher and tripod grip! π€
π Another interesting piece of spontaneous play happened when a group of children created a game using a small basket and a ball. The game developed when children challenged themselves to stand further back and throw a smaller ball.
πͺ΅ Outdoor - Block Play πͺ΅
We have been exploring our block play area and learning to access, use and return our resources. It has been a bit of an adjustment learning to tidy up all the resources ourselves and put them back into the correct place. There has been a lot of schematic play in the form of transporting the blocks to different areas and returning them. Some have really enjoyed working together as a team to build houses, hideouts and shops. There has been a lot of discussion about balance, position and weight of the blocks.
π§©π¨Indoor - Creative Skills Classroom π¨π§©
We have spent some time exploring the resources available and developing our friendships. The areas of play this week were:
πPainting using various objects
π Puzzles and stories
π Fine Motor exploration using pipe cleaners and threading
π Scissor skills cutting different materials
π Block play and construction
Some lovely friendships have started to build in the class and we have noticed that the painting table is very popular! π¨ Some of us are finding scissors a bit tricky to use but we will have fun practising π€©
