Spring has well and truly arrived at St. Colmcille’s, with buds appearing our our variety of fruit trees, the flowering of the aquatic marigold in our pond and the arrival of the numerous species of birds that inhabit our outdoor learning areas. Our school grounds have been developed to contribute towards and improve local biodiversity and air quality and most importantly to provide an excellent learning environment in which our fantastic pupils can develop their knowledge of nature and how they can positively impact and protect the world around them. We are all looking forward to collecting and trying some of our own tasty produce during the coming months, from the gooseberry, blackcurrant & red currant bushes and the apple, pear & cherry trees. #biodiversity #outdooreducation Eco-Schools Northern Ireland Official
