Miss Vaughan, Miss O’Hare and Mrs Oakes accompanied some members of the Eco Committee to a local Tree Planting event today.  This event had been organised by Rachel Wilson and the Eco Club at Down High, who had been working with the Newry, Mourne and Down District council to create a new community woodland at Dunleath playing fields.

The pupils worked alongside various local schools today and planted over 200 native trees, which had been kindly donated by Byrne’s Nursery.

It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and hard work the pupils put into their efforts today, even though the weather was not on our side.  We are very excited about this new working partnership with other local schools and are looking forward to further projects in the future.
