Special Events
End of half-term treat - Today we celebrated the end of this half term with a special treat! KS2 went to the hall to watch Inside Out 2 on the big screen. The PFA were very kind to organise slushees and popcorn for the children to enjoy. P5B have worked extremely hard this half term so they definitely deserved this celebration.

National Storytelling and Mental Health Week - This week we celebrated National Storytelling Week along with Mental Health Week. We were lucky to have a visit from childrenโs author Tim Baillie. He read his new book โThe Proud Parakeetโ which focused on the themes of having pride in ourselves but not judging others. The children enjoyed listening to the story and engaged in a great discussion about the importance of being themselves. P5 also took part in activities in class throughout the week; writing their own stories on BookCreator based on the book โIncredible Youโ, as well as enjoying some ERIC time (Everyone Reading In Class).
This week Primary 5 had a special visit from The Dairy Council Northern Ireland. Sara and Chloe talked to the children about the importance of living a healthy, balanced lifestyle and understanding why we need to eat some dairy foods. The children thoroughly enjoyed this workshop and now have a better understanding of the balance between the different food groups and how we should exercise for one hour daily to keep our bodies healthy and active. Remember we only get one body and a healthy body is your greatest prize! Thank you to Sara and Chloe and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Santa Visit - Santa came to visit the pupils to check in with who is on his nice list and give the pupils a little treat before Christmas.
Christmas Jumper Daily Mile - We had great fun participating in our annual Daily Mile Santa Run to promote a healthy lifestyle and highlight the importance of exercise and fun in the outdoors. We also partnered up with children from the P2 classes who made the experience so much more enjoyable. Thank you!
Road Safety Week 2024 - To raise awareness of road safety week, Primary 5 completed posters focusing on the key messages of road safety. This year, road victims are at the heart of Road Safety Week as we raise awareness of the devastating toll of road crashes, and celebrate the work of the incredible people who support families after a road death or serious injury. Primary 5 are now more aware of the different measures we must put in place to protect ourselves on and around the roads! ๐๐ฆ๐ฃ๏ธ
