ππ§ National Storytelling and Mental Health Week ππ§
This week we celebrated both ‘National Storytelling’ and ‘Children’s Mental Health’ week collectively. Here in St. Colmcille’s we believe that storytelling is a powerful tool to help support children’s mental health and wellbeing. Sharing stories not only engages children; but it can help them to switch off from their worries and allows them to be swept into a world of imagination.
Each class spent time exploring a book linked to this year’s mental health theme ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’ and carried out lots of fantastic practical activities. These activities helped the children to see that when we take notice of ourselves and how we feel, we can make better choices and are more connected with our feelings and behaviours. Noticing these things can help us recognise when we need support.
