St. Colmcille's Primary School celebrated our first Rights Day on Tuesday 27th September. The UNCRC pupil steering group selected 14 rights from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child that they felt would be beneficial to promote in our school to further develop awareness and understanding within our whole school community of key Children's Rights.
All classes took part in the celebration and completed various activities to begin embedding Children's Rights into our school culture. Children displayed the UNCRC in their classrooms and reflected upon the first Right of the Fortnight and its relevance both locally and globally for us all, 'Every child has the right to have a say in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously' (Article 12).
We look forward to continuing to share with you our school journey in becoming a Rights Respecting School.
