π Autism Awareness Week π
On Wednesday the 2nd April, the staff and pupils of St. Colmcille's came to school dressed in a variety of bright colours in order to raise more awareness and a better understanding of Autism, promote Autism acceptance, and build inclusivity and connectedness throughout our society. By dressing in a rainbow of colours, we wished to highlight the diversity and wide range of experiences within the autism spectrum, much like a rainbow encompasses a spectrum of colours.
Classes took part in a range of lessons and activities aimed at promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion as well as celebrating the different ways of thinking and other wonderful characteristics associated with being on the Autism Spectrum.
We also kindly asked the school community to donate to our Easter charity appeal, which will benefit the Downpatrick Autism Family Support Group, a vital line of support for parents and family members of children with Autism in our local community.
