  • ๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿ’ฐ Business Beginnings ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿงธ

    Sat 20 May 2023

Our Primary 7 pupils have been working hard in recent weeks to set up their own business, as part of the Young Enterprise Northern Ireland Business beginnings initiative. As part of this, a group of our Primary 7 pupils went to Lisburn on Tuesday, to sell their ‘Teddy Towels’, bracelets & keychains: the ideas they based their business idea around. After several weeks on the production line, this was the first venture out for our Primary 7 group as a business- it was a very successful day! Well done to our representatives who did our school proud, as well as our entire P7 group who have been working hard to get the business up and running. Our P7 pupils are now looking forward to many more local sales opportunities in the coming weeks!

    Sun 14 May 2023

Our classes recently took part in a school-wide planting competition as part of outdoor learning and to celebrate the arrival of the Spring/Summer Term. Every class had wonderful ideas for their planter and showed amazing creativity, many linking their design to their current World Around Us topic. Choosing a winner for each key stage was incredibly difficult, with so many high-quality planters created, therefore special recognition was also given to a number of classes! Overall winners will receive a class party for their prize and special recognition winners will receive extra playtime!

    The overall winners were:

    Foundation Stage - P1A & P1B (Celebrating Pollinators)
    Key Stage 1 - P3A & P3B (Spring is Here)
    Key Stage 2 - P6/7 (World Landmarks)

  • ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ Local MLA Visit to Support Healthcare Campaign ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ

    Sun 14 May 2023

During our previous Right's Day children explored Article 24, which highlights that all children have the right to healthcare. We then launched a campaign to improve children's healthcare both on a local and global level. Children created posters and went on protest rallies to raise awareness of current issues effecting children accessing effective healthcare. They also wrote letters and created PowerPoint presentations and animations to raise their concerns to local MLA's and world leaders. We were then very lucky to have a visit from Colin McGrath SDLP, whom many of the children wrote to. The children shared their work with him and then put him in the hot seat by asking him lots of tough questions about Northern Ireland's healthcare for children and the effect the cost of living crisis is having on children's health. The children very much enjoyed the chance to share their learning with Colin McGrath and were left assured that he would continue to raise and act on the concerns and suggestions they had made to ensure that children's right to health is upheld. Thank you to Colin for taking the time to come and meet with the children and be part of our campaign.
