Handaโ€™s Surprise- Fruit Taste Testing

Electricity moves through a circuit! ๐Ÿ’ก

The boys and girls were so excited this week to explore electricity by making our very own light circuits. A circuit has to have a power source, wires for the electricity to flow through, and a device such as a light that uses the electric current. The children learned that all of these parts must be connected so that the current flows. Look at our beautiful bright with lights Christmas tree! ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ„

Bouncy Egg Experiment ๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝ‍๐Ÿ”ฌ

โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹The children were quite the scientists this week as they investigated the effects of vinegar  on an egg. The children firstly  bathed the egg in vinegar for 2 whole days and predicted what they felt might happen to the egg. We had a whole range of predictions from the egg would disappear to the egg would become stronger. After the two days, we realised something quite remarkable had happened to our egg- the shell had disappeared (dissolved) revealing something which looked like a bouncy ball (membrane.) The children had so much fun testing if the egg would bounce after being dropped, and it did! Fantastic stuff P2!

Let’s Get Moving

As part of our new World Around Us topic, ‘Let’s Get Moving’ Primary Two explored movement through rolling by building their very own ramps! They tested their marvellous creations out on our class cars and discovered that the cars would move at certain speeds depending on various different factors. For example, the cars moved slower if their was a sheet on our ramps. The children learned that this was to do with friction! Fantastic learning boys and girls!

Planting Seeds ๐ŸŒฑ

Furthering on from our learning on Living Things this week we planted our very own seeds! To help us out, we read a lovely story called, ‘The Tiny Seed,’ about a little seed that grew and grew into a big, beautiful flower.

1. The children firstly put soil in the plant pot.

2. They then dug a hole and put the seed in the soil.

3. After, they covered the seed with some soil.

4. Finally, they watered the plant.

โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹Primary Two cannot wait to observe their plants grow into a beautiful flower over the next few weeks!

Living Things Hunt๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿž๐Ÿชฒ

The children's first World Around Us topic this year is 'Living  Things.' So far, we have learnt that Living Things can grow, breathe, change and move. Primary Two expressed an interest in discovering what Living Things lived in our school during our KWL session. So, we decided to take ourselves and our magnifying glasses outside and search for some Living Things! We found plants, ladybugs, fish and trees. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒณ We then drew some lovely pictures of our findings. What fantastic explorers you are Primary Two!
