PE

Our PE lesson today looked at the skills of basketball. The lesson looked at dribbling the ball by bouncing it and moving forward, passing the ball safely and accurately before looking at shooting into the hoops. Every pupil enjoyed the basketball activities and showed great enthusiasm for all parts of the lesson.

The focus for the next block of PE sessions will focus on football and the associated skills. We started by looking at how to pass the ball to others in a more controlled way so that the other person could stop the ball easily for their turn.

We have enjoyed learning all of the skills associated with dodgeball such as catching, dodging, throwing, and blocking. Today’s focus was on how to catch the ball without it touching the ground so that in the games they could bring back in a player that had been eliminated.

Today’s focus was on the skills of catching, throwing and dodging to get ready for Dodgeball. The pupils really enjoyed this session and putting their skills into action during the games.

Working on the different skills of gymnastics focussing on rolls, stands, holds and movement.

Working on each type of gymnastic roll before putting them together in a sequence.

Improving our hand eye coordination through improving our basketball skills.

Working on our fitness through circuits involving different exercises.

We focussed on our throwing and catching techniques to improve our hand eye coordination. This was to help us get ready to practise throwing the ball using the shot putt technique.

Our next lesson focussed on jumping hurdles at speed. The different sized hurdles challenged the pupils as they ran and jumped over them.

Our first area of PE this term is focussing on Athletics. The first lesson focussed on our running style and using our arms to help.
