Numeracy

🟩🟣 WALT- Recognise the properties of and name 2D shapes 🟣🟩

We have been learning all about the 2D shapes, squares, circles, triangles and rectangles. We have enjoyed doing this through songs, ICT, games and shape sorting activities. This has helped to support and consolidate our understanding of our focus shapes.

🍎 WALT- Recognise numerals and count sets within 10 🍎

We have been working on improving our understanding of recognition of numbers to 10. One way in which we have shown Mrs Dagen how well we can do this was in this apple tree activity. We had to recognise the numbers on the tree, count out the corresponding number of cubes (apples) and place them on the tree. Mrs Dagen was very impressed 🌟

🎨 WALT- Use colours to create patterns 🎨

We have been working very hard on creating patterns in topic maths and have used our story this week ‘Elmer’ to help us. We took part in lots of multi-sensory activities to create colour patterns, such as using pom-poms to create a pattern on Elmer, using coloured elephants to make different patterns and even painting our own patterns. We had great fun and can now create lots of different patterns 🐘🌈

🤩 WALT- Sort numbers into categories 🤩

In Numeracy we have been working hard to sort numbers. In this activity we had to work with our partner to sort numbers and pictures into the 3 and not 3 categories. We had to look closely at the cards and decide which category they belonged to.

🔢 WALT- Recognise numbers that are personal to us 🔢

We have been learning all about numbers that mean something to us in Numeracy. This week it was our

age. We had to find the number that represented our age and then decorate it using different coloured tissue paper. We had great fun and it helped us to easily remember how old we are.

🌈 WALT- Sort by colour 🌈

We have been working very hard to learn and recap the colours of the rainbow. To help with this Mrs Dagen showed us lots of ways to explore, name and sort the colours using people, bears and figures. We had to sort them into their matching colour and we all did so well! We even used the tweezers to make it a little more challenging 🌟
