  • 🌞 Sun Safety 🌞

    Sun 19 May 2024

It looks like the good weather is set to continue, something we are all very happy about!  It is important to remember to stay safe in the Sun and this is something Mr. Austin focused on during this week's assembly. Among the key messages the children were reminded about were that they should play in the shade and that they should always wear sun cream and sun hats.

Enjoy the weather safely, while it lasts!

This week we held a family pupil mental maths darts workshop based on addition and subtraction strategies. The session was led by Mr. Brennan and Miss. McCaughey who went through the strategies we use in school to help family members support their child at home.  The children then got to compete in a darts competition against their family using the strategies shown during the session.

A great session had by all with plenty of friendly competition between family.  Thanks to all the family and children who attended the session and to the staff who helped organise the workshop.

  • 🥕🍋 P7 Young Enterprise Achievement 🥕🍋

    Fri 17 May 2024

Our Primary 7 pupils have been working hard in recent weeks to set up their own business, as part of the Young Enterprise Northern Ireland Business beginnings initiative. As part of this, a group of our Primary 7 pupils went to Lisburn on Tuesday, to sell their ‘Fruit and Vegi-Pals’, as well as other items promoting good physical and mental wellbeing: the ideas they based their business idea around. After several weeks on the production line, this was the first venture out for our Primary 7 group as a business- it was a very successful day!

Well done to our representatives who did our school proud, as well as our entire P7 group who have been working hard to get the business up and running. Our P7 pupils are now looking forward to many more local sales opportunities in the coming weeks!

Parting in these sessions have been a fantastic learning opportunity for our Primary 7s and very helpful for them moving forward.

Thanks to Angela and the MyBnk team for their support over the past few weeks!

  • 🖊📚 Creating Writing Workshop 🖊📚

    Fri 10 May 2024

Primary 7 took part in a fantastic workshop this week, with esteemed author Declan Carville. In this session, pupils explored the upcoming changes in their lives and related this through their own story ideas on the theme of ‘transition’ within various contexts. It was an excellent workshop and a highly beneficial experience for our pupils: both in developing their creative writing skills and preparing for upcoming transition to Post-Primary education.

Many thanks to Declan, as well as the Amma Centre Armagh who facilitated the event.
