๐ฉนโ Mini-First Aid ๐ฉนโ
Fri 10 Jun 2022This week in school, P5, P5/6, and P6 children took part in a ‘Mini-First Aid’ training session with Caroline Boyd. The children learned how to deal with burns, breaks, and bleeds, learned how to carry out CPR, and also how to help someone who is choking. The children took part in lots of fun and interactive activities where they practised these lifesaving skills, they also received a special certificate and first aid booklet! This is such an important skill for all children to learn and our KS2 children now feel more confident when it comes to simple first aid skills and the importance of helping others! Our P7s are looking forward to participating in this very worthwhile training session in the weeks to come.

โ๏ธ๐ P3/4 Beach Trip โ๏ธ๐
Fri 10 Jun 2022P3/4 went on an exciting trip to Ballyhornan Beach on Thursday as a special treat for winning second place in the recent school Growing Challenge. P3/4 designed a flower bed with the theme, 'Save the Bees!' and planted lots of plants and flowers that would help support our local bee colonies! At the beach, the rain did not stop the fun and they had a fantastic time building sandcastles, exploring the rock pools for crabs, and playing in the playpark.

๐ Feast Day of St Colmcille ๐
Thu 09 Jun 2022Today is the the feast day of St Colmcille (Latin: Columba). St Colmcille is one of three patron saints of Ireland. Born in County Donegal in 521, he founded monasteries throughout Ireland. He left Ireland as an act of penance in 563 and settled with 12 companions at Iona, an island off the western coast of Scotland. He died in 597 and was buried by his monks in the abbey he created. St Colmcille is a very special saint to us, as our school is named after him and he did many good works during his life, including founding monasteries and teaching the people of Ireland and Scotland about God.
You may wish to say the following prayer with your family this evening:
Prayer of St ColmcilleBe O Lord,
A guiding star above me,
A smooth path below me,
A kindly shepherd behind me
and a bright flame before me;
today, tonight and forever.
Amen. -
