• 💥🎃 Firework Safety Workshop 💥🎃

  Primary 4-7 were visited by members of the NI Fire and Rescue Service and PSNI on Wednesday, to talk about Firework safety in the lead up to Halloween. They discussed the laws around fireworks, their dangers and the importance of respecting rescue workers whilst on duty.

   

  They also launched a poster competition to promote firework safety in our community. The winners will be selected next week and the top entry in each class will receive a £20 cinema voucher!

  A huge congratulations and thank you to Jack Manley, pictured here with his daughter Grace (P3) and son Oscar (P5). Jack raised almost £300 by running the Belfast City Marathon Relay to support our PTFA in the Cash for Kids School Challenge! Well done Jack and thank you to all who donated!

  St. Colmcille’s Nursery School have been visiting our school to take part in IFA Grassroots football sessions. Fantastic to see all the nursery girls and boys enjoying the games with their friends.

  Well done to Grace (P7A) and Nevaeh (P6) who both performed outstandingly this weekend at the Scoil Rince Cosceol in Louth! Nevaeh achieved a 2nd, 4th, 6th and 7th place and Grace achieved a 2nd and two 6th places. Excellent achievements from both, who continue to make us all proud at St. Colmcille’s! 🏆☘️

  A huge congratulations and thank you to Fianna (P3) and her family who raised over £500 at the weekend by selling spooktacular treats at their own stall, ‘Fianna’s Fancies’. • 🚲 Bike to School Week 🚲

  This week was Bike to School Week and the whole school spent time learning about the benefits of active travel.  It was great to see so many bikes in our bike shelter and those who made the special effort to cycle to school this week were rewarded with many spot prizes.  To finish off our week Mr Austin led an assembly on ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ to remind us about dressing brightly during these darker mornings and evenings when travelling actively.  Well done to all of the boys and girls for their hard work this week and keep cycling!

  A huge thanks to Clara Burns from Farrans (Isabelle’s Mum- Primary 2) for organising fun science workshops this week in school for our P3/4 and P4 Classes. The children had a great time working in teams constructing bridges and boats from recycled materials which they then carried out various scientific tests and investigations on. It was a thoroughly enjoyable learning experience for the children and a great way to develop their STEAM skills. We look forward to working with Farrans and Science Starz again in the future!
