WALT - identify arguments for and against

The children explored examples of discursive writing by reading a range of paragraphs presenting different viewpoints. They worked independently to identify whether each paragraph was for or against a given topic. The children then sorted the paragraphs into the correct categories and discussed the language and ideas that helped them make their decisions. This activity developed their understanding of balanced arguments and the structure of discursive writing.
