WALT: develop our pre-writing skills by practising diagonal lines from right to left.

We had great fun exploring our pre-writing shape, the diagonal line from right to left, through activities based on the nursery rhyme Hickory Dickory Dock. The children practised drawing clock towers using all of the pre-writing shapes they have learned so far, helping to consolidate their learning.

Using chalk, the children added diagonal clock hands and mouse whiskers to their pictures, carefully practising the target shape. They also enjoyed building their own clock towers and using their imaginations to bring the nursery rhyme to life.

To finish, the children created their own mouse ear headbands and mouse finger puppets, which they used to retell the story and sing the nursery rhyme together.

These fun, hands-on activities helped to develop fine motor skills, pencil control, creativity, and confidence with pre-writing shapes while making learning enjoyable and meaningful. 🕰️✏️🐭✨😊
