Water filtration

As part of our learning about Paris and the Olympics, we considered the difficultly facing some athletes when faces with the polluted water in the river Seine. The pupils tested different filtering materials; stones, sand, cotton wool and kitchen roll to see which was most effective at cleaning the water. They made predictions and evaluated the end results. We decided as a class that the best method would be combining different types of filtration to get the cleanest water.
