Reading, Thinking and Creating
This week in Literacy, P3 enjoyed exploring A Cloudy Lesson from Literacy Shed Plus. We watched the short film and used our VIPERS skills to answer a range of questions, focusing particularly on inference and explanation. The children worked hard to look for clues, explain their thinking and share their ideas about the story.
We then revisited our learning about imperative (bossy) verbs and discussed how these action words help us to give clear instructions. Working with a partner, the children used bossy verbs to explain the steps needed to create a cloud catcher, practising both their speaking and listening skills.
To complete the activity, the children designed and made their own cloud catchers. They applied their knowledge of 2D shapes by incorporating a variety of different shapes into their designs and showed great creativity when planning and constructing them. Throughout the lesson, the children developed their communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills while linking together learning from Literacy and Numeracy in a fun and meaningful way.
We were impressed by the children's thoughtful responses, excellent use of bossy verbs and imaginative cloud catcher creations! ☁️⭐✏️
