Problem Solving: Number formation
As part of our outdoor learning, the children took part in a fun problem-solving activity linked to number formation. They examined different numerals and discussed how some numbers are made using straight lines, some use curved lines, and others use a combination of both straight and curved lines. The children used their mathematical thinking and reasoning skills to sort the numbers correctly using a Venn diagram. This activity helped to develop their understanding of number formation, mathematical vocabulary, observation skills and problem-solving abilities while learning in an active outdoor environment.
