The children enjoyed a creative shape activity where they used a range of 2D shapes to design and build their own rockets. Before beginning, they identified and named the different shapes they would need, discussing their properties and how they could be combined to create a rocket. The children carefully selected, cut and arranged the shapes to complete their designs, developing their shape recognition, problem-solving and fine motor skills. They were proud of their colourful creations and confidently used mathematical language to describe the shapes they had used.
