Character descriptions
During our Literacy activity based on How to Catch a Star, the children explored character descriptions in a variety of engaging ways. Some children wrote words and sentences to describe the main character, sharing ideas such as kind, determined, curious and imaginative. They discussed the character's feelings and actions throughout the story and used these to support their descriptions.
Other children created their own sparkly stars inspired by the illustrations in the story. They carefully decorated their stars using yellow paint, colouring materials and glitter to make them bright and shimmering. While completing this activity, the children developed their concentration, scissor skills and fine motor control as they cut, decorated and assembled their stars. The activity encouraged creativity while also strengthening important physical and attention skills.
