Word building inside & outside!
Word building, decoding and blending in P3!
P3 have been working hard on developing their phonics, reading and word-building skills through a range of engaging indoor and outdoor activities.
Outside, the children enjoyed building CVC words by using large sound mats. They read each sound before blending the word together. They also used a fun washing line activity, pegging socks with different sounds onto the line to build and read words. Inside the classroom, the children used sound boards, sound tiles and phonics games to build and read CVC and CVCC words. Some pupils also practised their reading skills on Reading Eggs, while others challenged themselves to sort real and nonsense words by carefully decoding and blending the sounds.
The children showed great enthusiasm throughout the activities and were developing their confidence in recognising sounds, blending words and reading independently. It was wonderful to see so much active, hands-on learning taking place!
