Dividing by 10 and 100

Last week, we explored how multiplying by 10 and 100 affects a number, noticing that the digits move one place to the left when multiplying by 10 and two places to the left when multiplying by 100. Today, we built on this by looking at dividing by 10 and 100. We followed the same process, but this time the digits moved to the right, making the numbers smaller. To support understanding, we used a place value grid and counters to give pupils a clear, hands-on way to visualise what was happening.
