WALT: develop pre-writing patterns

This week, the children practised pre‑writing patterns using a multi‑sensory approach to make learning engaging and hands‑on. By exploring patterns in different ways, the children developed their fine motor skills and confidence in early mark making.

The children practised drawing patterns using a variety of materials, including:

• Paint, using brushes and fingers

• Flour trays for tracing and making marks

• Glitter to follow and create patterns

• Loose parts, such as shapes and objects, to form lines and patterns

Using different textures and tools helped develop hand strength, control, and coordination, while encouraging creativity and exploration. These activities support the skills needed for later handwriting in a fun and meaningful way.
