National Poetry Day

For National Poetry Day this year, the theme was Wonder. We explored this idea by choosing an object from our classroom and imagining that it had its own personality, emotions and feelings. We thought about what that object might say if it could speak. What would it think of us? How would it feel about the school day? What thoughts and opinions might it have about the children and adults around it?We also spent time wondering about our chosen objects. How many times had they been used? Did they enjoy being useful, or would they sometimes prefer to be left alone? These imaginative discussions helped us to see everyday objects in a new way and inspired us to create thoughtful and creative poetry.
