🔎Maths Week Ireland: Look for a Pattern🔎

As part of Maths Week Ireland, P2 explored the theme ‘Maths Is All Around Us’ through a range of fun, hands-on problem-solving activities. The children enjoyed heading outdoors to discover and create patterns in their environment.

We began by creating our own patterns using ourselves and actions, such as boy, girl, boy, girl (ABAB), clap, clap, stamp (AAB) and more complex ABC patterns. We then worked together using natural materials from outdoors to create, continue and solve a variety of patterns.

Miss Walsh challenged the children with some tricky ‘What comes next?’ questions, encouraging them to think carefully, recognise patterns and explain their reasoning. P2 had great fun working collaboratively, developing their problem-solving skills and discovering that maths really is all around us!
