WALT create an image using natural resources

Outdoor Maths and Natural Art! 🍂🪨🎨

Our pupils took their learning outdoors for a creative maths challenge. Using natural resources such as leaves, stones, twigs and other treasures they found around the school grounds, they created fantastic pieces of artwork.

The challenge didn't stop there. Each item was given a mathematical value, and pupils had to work out the total value of their creation. This led to lots of problem-solving, addition strategies and mathematical thinking as they carefully calculated what their artwork was worth.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the activity was comparing different methods of calculation. Pupils had engaging discussions about how they arrived at their totals, explaining their thinking and learning from one another's approaches. It was wonderful to see so much creativity, collaboration and confidence in using maths in a real-life context.
