WALT: Develop our pre-writing skills by practising the cross shape.

We had lots of fun practising our pre-writing shape, the cross, through activities linked to the nursery rhyme Miss Polly Had a Dolly. The children enjoyed a busy role-play hospital, caring for teddy patients using bandages, syringes, and nurse costumes.

At the prescription station, the children drew cross shapes on prescriptions before stamping them, just like real nurses and doctors. They also created their own nurse hats by carefully tracing the cross shape, helping to develop pencil control and mark-making skills.

In our sensory tuff tray, we practised drawing crosses in flour using our fingers, while enjoying the different textures and movements. These engaging activities helped the children build confidence in forming the cross shape while developing their fine motor skills through play and imagination. πŸš‘πŸ§Έβž•βœ¨
