Exploring the ‘ch’ Sound

This week in phonics, P3 have been busy exploring the ‘ch’ sound through a variety of practical and engaging activities. The children practised reading, building and writing words containing our focus sound using lots of different resources.

We used LCD writing tablets to practise forming our spelling words, interlocking sound cubes to build and blend words, and playdough to create our spellings in a fun, hands-on way. Some children also used their digital skills to design colourful posters on the iPads featuring our focus sound and weekly spellings.

To help strengthen letter recognition, we matched uppercase and lowercase magnetic letters and sorted them into pairs. These activities helped us to develop our understanding of letter formation, phonics patterns and spelling rules.

It has been wonderful to see the children so enthusiastic and engaged as they practised their spelling words in a range of creative ways! ⭐📚🔤
