🍃📝National Poetry Day 🍃📝

P2 had a wonderful time celebrating National Poetry Day with this year's theme, Wonder.

To spark our curiosity, we set off on a nature trail around our school grounds. The children explored the outdoors, taking photographs and collecting interesting natural treasures that caught their attention and made them wonder. From crunchy leaves and prickly seed pods to smooth stones and colourful flowers, there was so much to discover!

Back in the classroom, Mrs Walsh gathered all of our findings and placed them into a special Mystery Wonder Bag. Using their senses, the children carefully explored the objects and challenged themselves to describe each one using as many exciting adjectives as possible. Together, we created a fantastic word bank full of rich and imaginative describing words.

Using our wonderful vocabulary and sensory experiences, P2 worked collaboratively to create a beautiful poem about nature and the senses. The children amazed us with their creativity and thoughtful ideas, bringing the wonders of nature to life through poetry.
