Instructional Writing - Familiarisation

During our instructional writing lesson, the children began Step 1 of the writing process: the familiarisation stage. They explored the features of instructional texts by identifying and discussing the purpose of bossy verbs. Working collaboratively, the children sorted a range of bossy verbs into different categories, including craft, exercise, cooking and directions, helping them to understand how instructions are written for different purposes. This engaging activity developed their vocabulary and provided a strong foundation for creating their own instructional writing in future lessons.
