Shape Explorers in P3!
P3 have been investigating 2D shapes and their properties through a range of practical, hands-on activities.
Using geo boards, the children created a variety of 2D shapes, carefully stretching elastic bands to form shapes such as squares, rectangles, triangles and hexagons. As they worked, the children discussed the properties of each shape, identifying and comparing the number of sides and corners.
Through these activities, the children developed their understanding of shape vocabulary and learned how to recognise, describe and create different 2D shapes. They enjoyed exploring how shapes can be made in different ways while building confidence in their mathematical thinking and reasoning skills.
It was wonderful to see the children working collaboratively, sharing their ideas and becoming more confident shape experts! 🔷🔺⭐
