Hands-On Spelling Fun in P3!
This week, P3 pupils have been developing their spelling and decoding skills through a variety of practical, hands-on activities linked to their weekly phonics patterns. Some children focused on words containing the 'sh' digraph, while others worked on words ending in '-ag'.
Using paper sound tiles, the children carefully segmented their spelling words, placing a tile for each sound they could hear before blending the sounds together to read the completed word. They then applied their learning through a range of follow-up activities, including interactive decoding games on the interactive whiteboard, spelling practice using writing and drawing tablets, and decoding worksheets to strengthen their reading fluency.
The children showed excellent concentration as they identified sounds, blended words and applied their phonics knowledge in different ways. It has been wonderful to see their confidence in reading and spelling continue to grow!
