Problem Solving and Patterns

P3 have been developing their problem-solving skills by exploring, recognising and continuing repeating patterns.

The children took part in a variety of practical activities, building patterns using click sticks, pegs and peg boards. They challenged themselves to create and extend different repeating patterns, including AABBAA, ABCABCABC and AABAABAAB sequences. Through these hands-on activities, the children practised identifying what comes next and explaining the rules of their patterns.

Other pupils completed pattern worksheets, where they carefully recognised and continued repeating sequences independently. These activities helped to strengthen their reasoning skills, attention to detail and understanding of mathematical patterns.

It was fantastic to see the children working collaboratively, thinking critically and demonstrating growing confidence in spotting and creating patterns. 🔵🟡🔴⭐
