Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month, so we took some time to learn and talk about autism. We discussed what autism might mean and how it can look different for each person. We explored the idea that autism simply means our brains work in different ways, and that these differences can be seen as strengths or even superpowers.

We also talked about the importance of inclusion in our school and in the wider world. As part of our learning, we looked at the puzzle piece symbol often associated with autism. We then designed our own unique puzzle pieces, which were brought together to create a class display. This represents how we accept, include, and celebrate differences within our classroom and our school community.
