Penguin Waterproof Investigation

We have been learning about penguins as part of our World Around Us Polar Regions  topic. We used wax crayons on paper towels to outline the body of a penguin. We then used water droplets to investigate the impact the wax had at repelling water, just like the feathers of a penguin. We were able to see the paper towel soaking up the water, while the parts coloured with the wax crayons created a barrier, stopping the absorption of water!
