WALT: practise the pre-writing shape []

Rhyme: Five Little Aliens

This week, the children took part in a pre‑writing lesson focused on the square shape, linked to the rhyme Five Little Aliens. We listened to and discussed the rhyme, encouraging the children to join in and talk about what they could see.

The children developed their fine motor and early writing skills through a range of fun focus activities, including:

• Drawing square windows on rockets

• Drawing eyes on the aliens

• Creating diamonds in the sky, practising controlled marks and shapes

These activities supported shape recognition, pencil control, and creativity.
