WALT: identify words that rhyme with man

Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert

This week, the children enjoyed a literacy lesson based on the story Leaf Man. We listened to the story and talked about the images created by the leaves, sharing ideas about what the Leaf Man and other characters might look like.

We discussed the link with Autumn, noticing how real leaves can be used creatively and how they change at this time of year. The children were encouraged to describe what they could see and use their imagination to respond to the story.

As a focus activity, the children took part in a rhyming task, sorting words that rhyme with “man”. This helped to develop early phonics skills, listening, and vocabulary.
