Today we took part in an Easter egg hunt. We worked with our partner to find the other half of our egg. We were looking for numbers that matched together to make 10. When we all found our pair, we had to work out the secret code on the back. The hidden message was ‘Happy Easter P2/3’ We unlocked the magic egg and found the egg we were looking for inside. As the prize, the PTA very kindly organised an Easter egg for each child. Thank you so much to the PTA for our Easter Eggs! 🥚
We are so lucky to have lots of new outdoor areas in our school grounds for us to explore. We can’t wait to learn and play in these fantastic areas! So far we have enjoyed the swing, seesaw and slide in the new play park. We are getting braver at climbing over the top of the climbing frame and developing our body strength on the monkey bars. We have loved using the new sand and water trays in the Sensory garden and the water wall has presented lots of opportunities to develop our teamwork and problem solving skills. We have loved making music outside and a few boys and girls have discussed starting a band!
As we prepare for Christmas, we have been doing lots of jobs to help tidy up our school for the New Year. Mr Tweedie very kindly let us borrow his litter pick sticks to collect rubbish. Miss Vaughan was also very generous and let us use her very special gardening gloves. We removed some weeds and collected lots of footballs. Well done boys and girls!
We loved our outdoor learning sessions with Liz Farnan. We learned about local birds and how we can help them during the winter months by hanging up homemade bird feeders. We used leaves and flowers to decorate a Christmas tree and enjoyed a lovely winter story.
As part of our Toys and forces topic, we have been busy making our own teddy bear puppets. We had to choose the colours, sew it up and decorate the bear. We loved making our own new friends!
We have been learning all about our favourite toys. We know that some toys need electricity to work. We explored making circuits using batteries, wires, bulbs and buzzers. Some boys and girls said they would like to be electricians when they grow up!
We read the story of Handa’s Surprise and talked about all the fruits in the story. We used all of our senses to feel, smell, look at and taste the fruit. We were very brave! Then we sorted the pictures into fruits we liked and fruits we didn’t like. We learned that some fruits can be sweet like bananas and strawberries and some fruits can be very sour like lemons and limes!
We talked about our favourite smells - chocolate was definitely a popular choice! We worked as a team to smell the mystery pots and match them to the picture on the game board. We loved smelling the peppermint, lemon and watermelon pots. 🍉🍋
We have been learning all about our sense of sight. We learned about the parts of eye and investigated what is the most popular eye colour in our class. We made a graph using cubes and found that blue was the most popular! We watched a video on how guide dogs are trained to help blind people and we even had a go at reading some Braille!
